ICE List:Data Standards & Naming Rules

This page outlines the required formatting, naming conventions, and structural rules for all pages created within the ICE List wiki. These rules ensure consistency across all agents, incidents, facilities, vehicles, and agreements, and allow automated queries, categories, and templates to function properly.

General principles

All pages must follow:

• Clear, precise naming
• Consistent formatting
• Standardised infobox templates
• Correct categorisation
• Verifiable sourcing wherever possible

Pages that violate naming rules or structure may break automatic lists, state portals, and semantic queries.

1. Page Naming Rules

1.1 Agent pages

Page name format: Lastname, Firstname

Examples:

Justice, Aaron

Gonzalez, Maria

If unidentified, use the following format:

Where:

• **XX** = state or jurisdiction abbreviation
• **####** = unique numeric identifier

No personal details are included unless publicly confirmed.

Agent

On-page display title (top of article): Set the article display title to Firstname Lastname using Template:DISPLAYTITLE Lastname.

Example: Template:DISPLAYTITLE Justice

Infobox name: In the Agent page infobox, use Firstname Lastname (not "Lastname, Firstname").

Template: All Agent pages must use the Agent page template.

Style note: Never include titles such as “Officer”, “Agent”, “Deputy” in the page name, display title, or infobox name. All agent pages will be found in the Agents category.

1.2 Incident pages

Format: YYYY-MM-DD_City_State_Description

Rules:

• Use full date (ISO format)
• City first, State second
• Description should be neutral and short
• Spaces become underscores
• No commas in page titles

Examples:

• 2025-04-11_South_Park_San_Diego_CA_Armed_Agent
• 2024-12-02_Queens_NY_Home_Raid

Template: All incidents must use the Incident page template.

Categories: You must include Categories for State, Month and Year. All incident pages will be found in the Incident category.

1.3 Facility pages

Format: Name_(City,_State)

Examples:

• Etowah_County_Detention_Center_(Gadsden,_AL)
• Berks_Family_Detention_Center_(Leesport,_PA)

Template: Must use Facility page template.

1.4 Vehicle pages

Format: Plate_State

Examples:

• Vehicle:12345_CA
• AGX123_NY

Template:

Must use Vehicle page template. Auto-categorised under the Vehicle category.

1.5 Agreements (287(g), MOUs, local partnerships)

Format: County_State_287g

Example:

• Bucks_County_Pennsylvania_287g

Use the full state name, not abbreviation.

Must use Agreement page template. Auto-categorised under 287(g) Agreements.

2. Categorisation Standards

2.1 State categories

Every incident, agent, facility, or vehicle tied to a state must include: [[Category:State]]

Where STATE is spelled out:

• [[Category:California]]
• [[Category:Texas]]

Exceptions:

• Federal, interstate, or unknown → [[Category:United States]]

2.2 Agency categories

Agencies must match existing categories:

• [[ICE]]
• [[CBP]]
• [[HSI]]
• [[ERO]]
• [[USCIS]]
• [[DHS]]
• [[Locoal police office]]

No new agency categories may be created without approval.

3. Verification Standards

3.1 Verification levels

• Verified — identity, event, or agency is fully confirmed
• Verified (appearance only) — agent appearance confirmed but identity unknown
• Unverified — insufficient information
• Partially Verified — some details confirmed, some not

3.2 When to mark as Verified

Only mark “Verified” when:

• A public source confirms identity (news, FOIA, court documents), or
• ICE/CBP/DHS publishes the name
• Agent confirms own identity
• Repeated appearances with distinctive markers confirm identity beyond reasonable doubt.

Never infer identity.

4. Image and Source Rules

4.1 Images

• Uploads must follow ICE List Wiki:Image Rules
• Only upload images used for documentary or investigative purposes
• Do not upload irrelevant images
• Do not upload images that contain minors unless incidental, non-identifying, and unavoidable

4.2 Sources

All incidents and agents must list sources:

• News articles
• Court documents
• FOIA releases
• Video evidence
• Eyewitness accounts

Wikipedia articles are not valid sources.

5. Editing Rules for Volunteers

• Volunteers may **not rename pages**
• Volunteers may **not create categories**
• Volunteers may create:
  • New agents
  • New incidents
  • New facilities
  • New vehicles
  • New agreements
  • ONLY using the provided templates

Incorrectly formatted pages may be deleted or moved.
