Biography

Patrick J. Lechleitner is a former senior executive with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He served as Acting Director of ICE from July 2023 until February 2024, following the resignation of Director Tae Johnson.[1][2]

Lechleitner spent more than two decades at ICE, primarily within Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), where he held multiple leadership roles prior to becoming Acting Director.[1]

Career

Lechleitner joined ICE in the early 2000s and rose through the ranks of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). He served as Executive Associate Director for ERO, overseeing ICE’s civil immigration enforcement programs nationwide.[1]

In July 2023, he was designated Acting Director of ICE. During his tenure, he oversaw agency operations during a period of heightened political scrutiny of immigration enforcement and border policy.[2]

Lechleitner retired from ICE in early 2024 following the appointment of a new acting leadership structure.[3]
