Overview

The GEO Group (GEO) is a United States–based private corrections and detention contractor. Public reporting and company disclosures describe GEO as a major contractor for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), including operation of immigration detention facilities and provision of ICE supervision and electronic monitoring services through its subsidiary BI Incorporated (BI).[1][2]

Boycott

The GEO Group is listed for boycott due to documented contracting and operational support for U.S. immigration enforcement agencies, including:

  • ICE detention operations: GEO has been publicly linked to the operation of ICE immigration detention facilities (including facilities operated under intergovernmental service agreements and related arrangements).[1][3]
  • ICE electronic monitoring / ISAP: BI Incorporated (a GEO subsidiary) has been awarded ICE contracts to provide services under ICE’s Intensive Supervision Appearance Program (ISAP), including supervision and electronic monitoring technology and related program services.[4][5]

Because GEO’s detention operations and monitoring/supervision services materially expand ICE enforcement capacity through detention bedspace and surveillance infrastructure, ICE List documents GEO as a boycott-listed company.[1]

Background

ICE and DHS rely on private contractors for detention operations, facility management, transportation and logistics, and surveillance/supervision programs. GEO has been identified as one of the major private-sector vendors in this ecosystem, including via detention facility operations and ICE monitoring contracts administered through BI Incorporated.[1][4]
