Data Standards

To keep the ICE List accurate and easy to navigate, all pages follow a shared set of standards for naming, formatting and categorisation. This ensures the entire system is searchable, internally consistent, and easy for volunteers to work with.

Naming Conventions

Agents

Agent pages use the format:

 Agent:Full_Name

Examples:

  • Agent:David_Kim
  • Agent:Gregory_Bovino

If the name is unknown:

  • Agent:Unknown_(State)-(Number)

Incidents

Incidents follow:

 Incident:YYYY-MM-DD_Location_State_Description

This ensures incidents sort correctly by date.

Examples:

  • Incident:2025-04-11_South_Park_San_Diego_CA_Armed_Agent
  • Incident:2025-06-02_Atlanta_GA_Workplace_Raid

Facilities

 Facility:Name_(State)

Vehicles

 Vehicle:Agency_Identifier

Required Sections

All agents, incidents, facilities and vehicle pages should include:

  • summary,
  • basic details,
  • verification,
  • evidence & sourcing,
  • categories,
  • cross-links to related pages.

Linking Standards

Pages should link to:

  • the agent involved,
  • the field office,
  • the state page,
  • related incidents,
  • any facilities used.

This improves navigability and improves incident clustering.

Categories

Every page must include:

  • the system-wide category (Agents, Incidents, Facilities, Vehicles),
  • location-based categories (state, city when relevant),
  • status categories (Verified / Unverified).

Date Standards

All dates use:

 YYYY-MM-DD

Media Standards

Images must follow:

  • filename includes person/event identifier,
  • no EXIF location leakage,
  • faces blurred for civilians,
  • agent faces unblurred when clearly identifiable in public-facing actions.
