Biography
Caleb Vitello is an American law enforcement official and senior executive with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He is a career member of the Senior Executive Service and has more than two decades of service within federal immigration enforcement.[1]
Vitello holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo.[1]
Career
Vitello has held multiple senior leadership roles within ICE, primarily within Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). He previously served as Assistant Director for the Office of Firearms and Tactical Programs, where he oversaw firearms policy, training standards, and tactical operations across the agency.[2]
He has also served as Chief of Staff for Enforcement and Removal Operations and as Director of the National Fugitive Operations Program, positions involving nationwide coordination of enforcement activities and field offices.[3]
On January 20, 2025, Vitello was appointed Acting Director of ICE. His tenure ended in February 2025, when he was reassigned amid internal leadership changes and increased pressure to accelerate enforcement operations.[4][5]
Following his reassignment, Vitello remained active within ICE in a senior operational role.[4]
